Beckington Parish Council

Welcome to the Beckington Parish Council website. The Parish Council has responsibility for local issues, including setting an annual precept (local rate addition to your council tax) to cover the council's operating costs and producing annual accounts for public scrutiny. The Parish Council evaluates local planning applications and works with the local police, district council officers, and neighbourhood watch groups on matters of crime, security, and traffic in Beckington, Rudge and Standerwick.

The Parish Council's role also includes initiating projects for the maintenance and repair of parish facilities, as well as consulting with the district council on the maintenance, repair, and improvement of highways, drainage, footpaths, public transport, and street cleaning. Conservation matters (including trees and listed buildings) and environmental issues are also the responsibility of the council. The Parish Council works closely with both Mendip District Council and Somerset County Council, and representatives from each of those organisations attend our monthly meetings to provide updates that may be relevant to Beckington.

On this site you will find information about how to contact a Parish Councillor, upcoming meeting agendas and minutes of previous meetings. You will also see planning applications and the Parish Council response to individual applications, as well as news items relating to the Parish.

Each Parish Councillior has their own area of responsibility - individual portfolio's can found in the members section of this website.
